About Nick Brown

As a climate scientist I am working on coastal projects locally and nationally that aim to restore and protect the coastal zone, sequester carbon, and increase resilience. With a background in traditional geology and Ph.D. in coastal geology from Florida Atlantic University focused on geomorphology, sediment transport, and beach resilience, my work largely focuses on the restoration of beaches and marshes, implement adaptation strategies to enhance coastal resilience for communities, and supporting environmentally sound legislation. In coastal communities I work to address sea level rise, increasing storm intensity, and other climate impacts, while managing coastlines for multiple purposes (protection, habitat, and recreation) and improving access to and equity of coastal resources. I am currently interested in long-term climate planning strategies, the impact of economics on climate and coastal funding, and scientific communication of these complex topics.
