As the Health Information Systems Manager, I lead the strategic planning, development, and operational execution of HIM services to support and enhance patient care, maximize program reimbursement, and ensure system efficiencies. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, my role involves overseeing the integration and management of health information systems in alignment with state and federal reporting requirements and our agency's mission and objectives.

With 10+ years of experience in Health IT, data and workflow analysis, and compliance, Kalan Brown, President of Insightful Consulting Services, LLC has worked on numerous projects with a wide variety of technologies. His prime objective is to leverage these skills and experience to most effectively and efficiently meet his clients’ organizational goals and objectives. This includes everything from the requirements gathering phase to the design of solutions, to the building and maintenance of dashboard and other visualizations, as well as statistical analyses and modeling. With a high degree of customer service orientation, he also delivers collaborative technical assistance to clients’ internal staff, partner organizations, and vendors. His experience includes process improvements, data quality remediation, quality and incentive program support, enablement of regional health information exchange usage, worklist/report design and implementation, HIPAA compliance, and data manipulation of claims, clinical, and practice management data. He is also skilled at facilitation of training, quality improvement, and stakeholder meetings.

In addition to duties performed as Technology Coordinator, I am responsible for analyzing healthcare data with the goal of quality improvement and cost reduction. This includes both claims and clinical data.

Responsible for developing IT solutions to meet organizational goals and objectives. Working with health care providers in IT adoption, meaningful use of Electronic Health Records, and workflow redesign, and has led the initial phases of building IDS’s clinically integrated chronic disease information exchange. Provides overall project management which include overseeing the successful deployment of chronic disease registry software, data flow mapping, gap analysis to ensure appropriate connectivity and outputs, as well as technical assistance to partner organizations. Staffs consortium meetings and utilizes a team approach to conduct the evaluation and meet desired outcomes.

Administered online presence to enhance public outreach including website and social media correspondence; Created mapping solutions to enhance visual understanding of data; Designed, Implemented, and Maintained a County Asset Database to supplement the comprehensive planning process.
