• Joined company as an Utilityman working in the physical layout of substations.• Started print interpreting, conduit schedule designation, erected steel towers, structures, ground grids and cable conduits. • Became familiar with the safety guidelines and physical aspects of work in utility substations and lines. • Worked through progression steps to understand the application of relays in system protection circuits, such as transformer differentials, bus differentials, line relaying, carrier (pilot wire) protection and generation protection. • Duties include trouble shooting, becoming familiar with prints and layouts of substation equipment.• Promoted to Senior Protection and Control Technician (P&C) in 1986. • Directed the work assignments and trained two P&C in step progression the requirements of system protection applications. • Worked closely with Transmission Engineering and System Protection to coordinate the construction for the relay and metering installations in the ERCOT Transmission Grid.
