Bruce MacPherson recently retired from the International Trademark Association (INTA) as the Chief Policy Officer responsible for developing INTA’s worldwide presence in order to increase its impact on issues affecting trademarks and related rights. Over the almost three decades with INTA, Mr. MacPherson worked closely with the association’s volunteer members to identify issues, formulate association policies, and devise strategies and programs to increase protection for the rights of brand owners. Before joining INTA in 1993, Mr. MacPherson specialized in international business development, strategic planning, and government relations with the consulting firm InterMatrix, and prior to that, on the corporate staff of Combustion Engineering, Inc. His career began in Washington, D.C., focusing on international trade and business affairs for U.S. Congressman John B. Anderson and later, for U.S. Senator Charles Percy.Mr. MacPherson earned a Bachelor of Arts in international studies at the Johns Hopkins University, and has a Master’s degree in international economics and law from JHU’s School of Advanced International Studies.
