This Lead Architecture and technical project management involved the lifecycle replacement and development of a company wide telecommunications and data architecture plan to use technology to meet CP Rail’s business and security objectives and its goal to become the “Railway of the Future”. This also includes developing logistical and implementation plans to upgrade its existing telecommunications and data infrastructure over its areas of operation. The infrastructure to be upgraded includes over 10,000 miles of ATM fiber, 15,000 miles of VHF radio coverage, wireless data systems, signaling and control systems as well as typical corporate WAN and IT data networks. These requirements must meet many government and regulatory standards as well as meeting the operational needs for a company of over 20,000 employees’ in Canada and the US.
