This new system added functionality including trending, detail reports and the ability to score more than 1,000 suppliers. Traveled internationally regularly to evaluate prospective suppliers throughout Asia.• Worked as a supplier program manager between Cooper and our international supply base. Responsibilities:• Performed quality process reviews of complex future purchased components for the NVH division.• Conducted quality audits in conformance with QS9000 / TS16949 for perspective Cooper suppliers.• Facilitated problem resolution to supplier caused systemic quality concerns.Additional Accomplishments:• Developed all supplier evaluation material for Cooper-Standard Automotive’s NVH group to evaluate suppliers to current standards while also focusing on continuous improvement.• Traveled regularly to suppliers, predominantly in North America, but including globally to perform process, system and component reviews.• Created and taught classes for supplier evaluation and development including FMEA / Control plans, statistical process control, measurement system analysis and lean manufacturing evaluation (J4000).Skills Gained:• Realized the need for a system that encourages continuous improvement then captures it to allow all to use the information for growth. Responsibilities:• Organized and structured all efforts toward creating an understanding of lean manufacturing, a lean culture and a lean process.• Taught, facilitated, led and managed all Kaizen projects and activities. Assisted department managers in implementing and maintaining a 5S program.Additional Accomplishments:• Created a lean simulation to aid in the cultural transition from a traditional manufacturing environment to that of a lean organization. Earned recognition throughout Cooper Tire & Rubber Company as recipient of the Chairman’s award in 2003. One of 23 individual Chairman awards in the history of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company.• Facilitated more than 30 kaizens / 5S projects to improve systems with an accumulated cost savings of more than $500,000.Skills Gained:• I learned to create classes using a variety of teaching styles / tools. Additionally, I developed several of the classes into Train-the-Trainers with multiple sessions taught to spread these new standards across Cooper in an effort to build systems.
