I teach violin, viola, and cello private lessons. My focus is to show the student how to overcome problems they have during practice. How to analyse the problem they encounter, and the steps needed to take to overcome that problem. To become successful on an instrument in the least amount of time and frustration, you have to know how to practice correctly. I was a 1st violinist and principal 2nd violin in the Southwest Washington Symphony. Former conductor of the Southwest Washington Jr. Symphony, and 1st Baritone in the Portland Symphonic Choir. Taught 36 years as an orchestra teacher with the Kelso School District.

Retired Orchestra Teacher, But Still Giving Private Lessons.Kelso School District Aug 1975 - PresentKelso, WashingtonRetired from teaching orchestra in the public schools in June 2011, but I am still giving private lessons to members of the Southwest Washington Symphony and others. My student Dakota White auditioned to be the Young Artist Soloist for the Southwest Washington Symphony. He was picked as the soloist and played the 2nd movement of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. He also took 1st place in violin solo at the Southwest Washington Regional Solo Ensemble Contest. From there he went on and took a Superior Rating at the Washington State Solo Ensemble Contest.

I had a student recently win the audition for Young Artist Soloist with the Southwest Washington Symphony. He also became a first violinist in that symphony and received 19,000 dollars in grants and scholarships to the University of Washington.
