Dr. Harvey is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Florida A&M - Florida State University Joint College of Engineering. His primary academic responsibilities include teaching senior design, communications, computer engineering and core electrical engineering courses. His research areas include wireless communications, lightning surge suppression, modulation techniques, electrical and embedded system design, rapid detection and synchronization of spread spectrum signals, and error-control coding. Current areas of interest include lightning surge characterization and suppression, wireless communications and networks, reduced complexity error control algorithms, and spread-spectrum communications. He has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering since 1997.Dr. Harvey was previously in the Communications & Networking Division (CND) of the Information Technology & Telecommunications Laboratory (ITL) of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). His primary areas of responsibility included error-correction and detection coding, mobile communications for transportation, propagation analysis (indoor and MMW), and communication system vulnerability.
