Provided scientific leadership to the rapidly growing Immnuoassay and Molecular Diagnostic business and chaired the Science and Technology council which manages the collaborative culture within the science and engineering community.

Directed molecular biology product development, developing some of the first molecular diagnostic products based on Nanogen’s NanoChip technology.

Refocused an immunodiagnostic business resulting in a doubling of total sales in three years. This operation included marketing, product support, R&D, and manufacturing in California, Washington, Italy and France. Product lines included autoimmune, newborn screening, molecular and immunodiagnostics businesses.

Developed and managed the Division of Biology of the Beckman Research Institute of the City of Hope; initiating new research programs, recruiting staff, managing budgets, developing space needs, coordinating government grant funding (including gene therapy, engineered antibody and cancer center programs).
