Bruce W. Barnes is an experienced security professional and accomplished project manager. He specializes in the physical security and disaster preparedness of the electric sector, but is equally adept at applying these concepts to a variety of organizational settings. As the head of Infrastructure Security and Emergency Management for NV Energy located in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was responsible for protecting 13 generation plants and 54,000 square miles of service territory to ensure that the lights stayed on for over 2.4 million customers and 40 million tourists annually. His responsibilities included: physical security compliance and implementation of critical infrastructure protection (CIP 014 and CIP V5), emergency management, business continuity planning, and security management and evaluation. He earned the designation of Certified Protection Professional (CPP) by ASIS, and has multiple years of hands on security management experience managing both armed security officers and unarmed contractors. Bruce is recognized as a regional expert in the field of emergency management, and led his company’s mutual assistance efforts in Long Island, NY during Hurricane Sandy. He has developed and delivered numerous disaster drills and emergency exercises, and is known for his strong facilitation skills. As an active member of the community, he was appointed by the Governor to serve on the State of Nevada’s Critical Infrastructure Committee and Homeland Security Grant Allocation Committee. He is a member of ASIS, Infraguard, and is a graduate of the citizen’s FBI Academy, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and North Las Vegas citizen’s police academies
