Briefs IP program status at numerous conferences annually to include Air Reserve Weapons and Tactics Conference, Aircrew Protection Working Group, Aircrew Protection Executive Council, Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Senior Leader Working Groups, and Survival and Flight Equipment Symposium, just to name a few.

    Guardian Angel (GA) is a non-aircraft weapon system consisting of a Family of Systems (FoS) (nine mission-oriented equipment kits) needed to prosecute the USAF function of Personnel Recovery (PR) across the full range of military operations (ROMO). Guardian Angel is tasked with preparing, recovering, and reintegrating isolated personnel (IP) and may be visualized as the ground element of rescue operations, able to act independently of or in conjunction with vertical lift and fixed wing aircraft. Guardian Angel enables the PR system’s four primary functions of prepare, plan, execute, and adapt. Further, GA is critical in effecting the five PR execution tasks: report, locate, support, recover, and reintegrate.Guardian Angel comprises Combat Rescue Officers (CRO), Pararescuemen (PJ), and Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) specialists. Combat Rescue Officers and PJ are the direct combatants specifically trained to conduct the locate, support and recovery tasks of PR operations in an effort to return IP and sensitive materiel back to friendly control. Combat Rescue Officers also provide command and control during each PR task while providing battle staff with weapon system and PR subject matter expertise. Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape specialists provide specific expertise in the prepare function and the report, locate, support, and reintegrate tasks.
