his position reports to the Inventory Control Manager. The Production Material Control position is responsible for directing and coordinating activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies. Specific responsibilities include:- Organizing, supervising, and directing the work of the storeroom and central supply personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.- Preparing instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.- Analyzing market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, and preparing market analysis reports.- Evaluating vendor quotations using appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.- Recruiting and maintaining suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price.- Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices.- Coordinates figures for controlling ‘day supply’ of inventory vs. cost issues.- Acts as master scheduler to the production department.
