Selected to work in Engineering Co-Op Program for this precision investment-casting manufacturer of advanced technology turbine blades/vanes/components for aerospace and industrial power generation. Was assigned to support Maintenance Specialists in the foundry section on the shop floor, which operate complex multi-million dollar vacuum casting units. Focus was to increase “up time” of these units, which involved the use of optical pyrometers, vacuum detection equipment, electro-mechanical control systems, a variety of standard maintenance equipment and the use of solid works design software. Analysis techniques included statistical evaluation, detailed cost analysis, time studies, and detailed reviews of historic maintenance records. Skills used included reading blue prints, wiring diagrams / schematics for computer control systems.
