I joined the Scottish Provident International executive team in the Isle of Man as Marketing and Corporate Development Director. I led a multi-disciplined marketing and corporate development team of 30 people focussed on developing business with adviser firms and institutions in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa. Having played a major role in building the company into a market leadership position, I left when the company was acquired by Abbey National.

I joined RBS Retail Banking as Marketing Manager for special market sectors to lead the development of customer segmentation within the bank, then took up the role of Marketing Services Manager responsible for all advertising and communications and a team of twenty marketers. I was recruited into the executive leadership team of Project Columbus, the bank’s major change programme, and subsequently moved with key Columbus team members as Marketing Director to create and run a new bank headquartered in Jersey, Royal Bank of Scotland International.

As Marketing Manager for Lucozade I carried full P&L responsibility for Smithkline Beecham’s major grocery brand with overall control over all aspects of marketing, distribution and production, managing a product team of four marketers. I played a significant role in the repositioning of the Lucozade brand, including leadership of a significant new product development programme, extending distribution into new channels and managing ‘post-Daley Thompson’ advertising development. I conceived the Lucozade Sport brand and products, leading the launch of the brand supported by a new distribution strategy and salesforce, and a multi-million pound marketing support budget. Lucozade Sport quickly became a £100m+ brand in its own right. I also provided input into similar repositioning of the Ribena, Marmite, Horlicks, Shloer and Tabasco brands.
