I led a group of dedicated and highly skilled professionals working across the Auckland Transport (AT) business charged with the responsibility of the safety of all of our workers, our contractors, customers and the travelling public.Reporting to the Chief Executive I have responsibility for both Workplace Health and Safety at AT and Road Safety across Auckland - expanding to safety on all modes of transport that AT controls.My team is actively embedding Vision Zero and Safe System principles access the AT business with a view to mitigating the Road Safety crisis that both Auckland and New Zealand are currently experiencing.I am a trustee of Tracksafe NZ and I am involved in the SafeKids organisation.

North Eastern Victoria - Benalla

For three years I led VicRoads North Eastern Region.The Region is notable for its leadership in the development of the program road maintenance alliance model - through the success of the North Eastern Maintenance Alliance (NEMA). The success of this alliance led to its extension for a further 5 years in 2015 and to the establishment of similar alliances in VicRoads Eastern and South Western Regions.The Region was also notable for its leadership in road safety through the retro fitting of Wire Rope Safety Barriers along the centre line of sections of the Melba and Goulburn Valley Highways - a Victorian first that has already saved lives.The Region also struck out and developed its Connecting People to Places vision and strategic culture plan. Which articulated a Vision Values and Behaviours that set the Region up for success and this aligned nicely with and was a precursor to the current VicRoads Strategic Commitment. The Region developed strong working relationships with our stakeholders delivering real outcomes. An example of this was the way that we partnered with Mansfield Shire to construct the roundabout at the end of High Street in Mansfield. This intersection had been a safety problem for years, but had not and was unlikely to ever attract funding due to its low speed environment and consequent lack of serious crashes. We worked closely with the Shire and were able to fund a cost effective but very safe solution in the form of a very well received roundabout.The Region succesdly led the planning study for a replacement bridge accross Lake Mulwala at Yarrawonga. With both State Governments announcing their preferred route as the Grey Route in late 2015.We established relationships with media outlets and I conducted regular radio talkback radio segments. The Region also developed consultation techniques where consulted on the problem before making a decision enabling the community to have real input into the process.

Geelong

I manage a group of 26 staff in both Geelong and Warrnambool.We deliver in the South West of Victoria:-- Statutory and Strategic planning services for the states arterial road network.- Road Safety and Traffic Engineering Services including Traffic and Network Operations.- Scoping, and bidding for maintenance and construction projects. Including pre construction activities such such as design service relocation and land acquisition.

Geelong

Delivered over three quarters of a billion dollars worth of road and bridge, construction and maintenance works in the South West of Victoria via contract and internal service level agreement.I managed 38 permanent staff and a host of agency and contract staff in both Geelong and Warrnambool.Highlights include the successful delivery of :-- the multi award winning Barwon Heads Bridge Project- Cliff Street Overpass in Portland- Breakwater Bridge Project in Geelong- revising and rewriting VicRoads Section 750 for the delivery of Routine Maintenance.

Ballarat, Australia

Managed an in-house team on a commercial basis delivering all aspects of highway maintenance via Service level agreement, and competitively won contracts. Tendered for, won and delivered with profit, VicRoads construction contracts, aided in the development of an in house business to seal small scale road surfacing. Delivered laboratory and survey services on a competitive basis.Western Works had 44 staff based in Ballarat and Horsham and had depots all over western Victoria including Mildura.

Victoria

I held various positions working in Melbourne and the Western half of Victoria.Highlights include:- - successful delivery of the duplication of the Calder Highway between Irymple and Mildura. - worked as part of the team that successfully delivered sections if the Calder Freeway between Sunbury and Gisborne.- management of direct labour crews in the Mallee.- working on the synchronisation and linking of traffic signals in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
