Senior Reviewer
Current-Serve as State Aid Engineer and a team leader in the Project Development Unit. Supervise engineers engaged in civil engineering work to ensure effective operation.-Contribute to the design of in-house MassDOT design projects.-Prepare and/or review plans, specifications and estimates for MassDOT projects and confirm conformance with established design standards, regulations, guides, and policies.-Propose improvements to projects for improved performance, safety, and extended service life and advise and coordinate with other MassDOT staff and sections on design and project phasing and sequencing.-Coordinate projects with other district sections throughout MassDOT.-Review and track contract EWOs and overruns to identify and recommend solutions to minimize future occurrences.-Oversee the district project development role in the review of design/build, air rights overbuild and major projects.-Participate in Design-Build review and procurement process including the design selection committee and value engineering evaluations.-Maintain electronic organization of submittals and other project related materials including coordinating blue beam reviews.-Perform site visits; Investigate existing conditions, make observations, and record findings.-Direct supervision of technical and professional staff involved in the preparation and/or review of plans.-Makes recommendations to the superiors to enhance design and ensure cost effective measures are applied to projects.-Advises on design solutions to problems on projects under development and for problems that occur in the field during construction.-Attend and provide design expertise at project meetings including project scoping, site walks, design public hearings, public informational meetings, and planning study meetings. Prepare meeting minutes.-Perform other related duties as requested and/or required by Supervisor, Project Development Engineer and/or the District Highway Engineer.
