I began my employment at Vermont Information Processing (VIP) while I was in my third year of education at the University of Vermont. They graciously took me on as an intern in their technical development department working on maintaining, enhancing and supporting their beverage software in their backend RPG interface. Working with my schedule between classes, I would come in and work for them part time. Once I graduated from the University of Vermont with my Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Computer Science, I quickly began working for them full-time a few weeks later in the same position. My first few years were spent being a remote and hybrid worker due to COVID. I primarily worked on various different facets of the backend RPG, working on custom code, custom overlays for invoices and statements, and working on bug fixes and enhancements to several processes and interfaces under the beverage software umbrella. The last year I spent focusing on the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) team as the company transitioned to Product Centric Teams (PCT). My work involved similar work that at I had worked on previously and more. I spent time doing bug fixes and enhancements to custom code and generic code in the EDI side of the beverage software. I also learned and became an expert in our Cleo Clarify mapping as part of a multi-year project to move old maps on an interface called TLI. This involved creating maps through rulesets, route objects and envelopers to intake data inbound and outbound to trading partners and customers. The process involved taking the inbound X12 with segments and information generated by customers and used the Clarify map to translate this into XML segments and information based on the customer and trading partner requests. The same was done for outbound XML to translate to X12 with segments and information based on the trading partner and customers request. I also spent time documents these maps and EDI interface code for customer support.
