Working for Purdue Applied Research Institute Microelectronics Lab (PML) has been a terrific experience. I learned about the microelectronics chip industry main focusing on silicon photonics. Using Ansys Lumerical to model different photonic integrated circuit component behaviors based on material, structure, and source. I collaborated with Naval Warfare Surface Center to mathematically model laser heating of dielectric material based off existing literature and simulations conducted on Ansys Icepak. I helped setup an Intel sponsored silicon photonics workshop in which I later participated in. This workshop was led by Dr. Suahmakoun.

I engaged in microfluidics summer research under the tutelage of Dr. Tompkins. I have investigated the growth of the precipitate membrane vs. the voltage it was inducing using PDMS and resin casted microfluidic devices. This ignited a passion for research within me, prompting me to continue this work as an independent student during the 2024 fall semester.
