After Kik Inc sold off the Messenger to Medialabs we downscaled from a ~150 to 19 where 5 were engineers selected as the "go-forward team" to continue work on the Kin Cryptocurrency platform that the company was working on. During my time in this role, I worked with 2-4 other engineers to write open source SDKs in 5 languages (Kotlin/Swift/Py/Node/Go) that used infrastructure that sat in front of the blockchain to facilitate fee subsidization and serve and stream transaction and account information; all of which helped developers in the ecosystem create blockchain payment experiences easier with a layer of abstraction that anyone could understand. I worked in the Strategic Alliances department (which is traditionally just business acquisitions and licencing for the company). My position allowed me to work with a team of 5 other talented individuals to create rapid software prototypes of potential full or partial BlackBerry applications for the business side of the department to use as demos to potential partners. Often these prototypes involved temporary usage of partner API's or similar mock ups of what type of data could be used from their services to find synergies between their products and RIM's technologies.
