I have worked on two major projects and a large variety of smaller projects. My first project was the redesign of a portable carbon brush customer demonstration kit. I developed a design which included a vertically mounted motor to the underside of a phenolic resin plate. FEA was used to simulate expected failure of the plate. I built the kits using a circuit schematic developed by electrical engineers and tested the kits to assure that the quality and design targets were met.My second major project was a redesign of an existing powder metallurgy system. The previous PM system contained a hopper which shook every time powder was deposited into the die which resulted in a material composition that was not to spec. My design utilized a stationary dual hopper system that did not shake the powder and resulted in the required material composition. It also consisted a high speed belt driven linear actuator to deliver the powder to the die.
