As a medic in C Co. 325th BSB I served in the Treatment Platoon and Evacuation Platoon. As a member of the treatment platoon I was part of a group of medics who assembled, stocked and operated a Battalion Aid Station during field training exercises. Under the guidance of a PA or M.D., I have treated both acute and chronic illnesses and injuries, in a clinical and hostile setting. As a member of Evacuation Platoon I was a member of a 3 man team tasked to a Four Litter Ambulance for the purpose of treating, monitoring, and evacuating urgent category patients. I am well versed in a detailed patient trauma assessment and triage operations. I have received numerous Certificates of Achievements and Army Achievement Medals for my part in medical support operations with Charlie Co. For several months I was a Team Leader within my squad, where I assisted the squad leader with mission planning, assigning tasks to younger soldiers, and counseling my subordinates.

I was assigned on a one month rotation at the TAMC emergency room, where I assisted the physicians and nurses on the floor with all patients that entered the ER. I assisted with the initial screening and obtaining lab samples from patients in triage. I performed my duties in all different sections of the ER. The daily tasks ranged from escorting patients to the radiology lab, to obtaining IV access and administering medications under supervision of the nurse or doctor on the floor. I assisted the General Surgery team with procedures such as a chest tube for spontaneous pneumothorax, and setting and casting fractured bones. In the ER I also attended to psychological patients such as those with homicidal and suicidal ideations.

Schofield Barracks Health Clinic

I was assigned on a six month rotation at the Schofield Barracks Soldier Centered Medical Home, where I assisted the Brigade Surgeon and Physician with the screening and treatment of non-urgent patients in a clinical setting. All patients were screened in a SOAP format. I became proficient in the Army Medical System AHLTA. Daily tasks ranged from obtaining vital signs of patients, to performing EKGs and ordering laboratory tests for acute patients and routine physicals.
