Bryce Cooper is an experienced Senior Executive and Company Director. He is now semi-retired, working in a part-time advisory role for NIWA and others.Bryce's core skills include: Strategy, Leadership, Environmental Science, Stakeholder Relationships, and Governance. He has served on a range of committees providing science and policy advice to central and local government. Bryce's scientific research background supports his current interests in a range of areas - reducing the effects of land use on water, monitoring our environment, commercialising aquaculture of kingfish, biodiversity and its restoration. Bryce has a keen interest in promoting the value of education, and has been a Councillor at Wintec, Chair of the NIWA-University of Auckland Joint Graduate School in Coastal and Marine Science and Co-Chair of the NIWA-University of Waikato Joint Institute for Freshwater Management.Bryce is a recipient of a University of Waikato Medal for his contribution to freshwater management, including being the Chair of the Technical Advisory Group for the Healthy Rivers Plan Change for the Waikato River and a member of the Technical Group advising the Government on freshwater health.
