Staff Research Scientist - Quantum Computing
CurrentMy work consists of two major undertakings. I research and develop quantum algorithms for superconducting quantum processors, and I carry out and validate these novel techniques at scale on IBM's quantum hardware. As IBM progresses on its hardware roadmap, my team is responsible for pushing that hardware to its limit. My research has skewed toward pre-fault-tolerant algorithms with some exceptions. Recently, I am developing new techniques to realize large-scale 2D fermionic time-dynamics experiments and I am leading a collaboration to realize these hardware experiments.Large-scale quantum hardware demonstrations requires a set of diverse skills:- I develop internal tools for efficient and flexible experiment execution with low manual overhead- I refine frameworks to develop and run error-mitigated hardware experiments which enforce best practices, yielding experiments that are reproducible and resilient to transitory failures- I work directly with IBM Quantum’s product team to convert internal research capabilities into polished, user-tested software.
