A split case picker is one of a few primary starting positions within the warehouse. Split case, as a department, is what drives the warehouse and sends the product off to its shipping point. The job requires you to pick boxed items down by individual skus and pack them into totes for distribution. My duties as a worker went well beyond just this base role, requiring me to jump from one job to another within the same department (and on rare occassions, beyond that department). The various work tasks I performed went as follows:- Leading our startup meetings at the beginning of the work day * Leading stretching excercises * Reading daily announcments * Coving Lean topics such as TIMWOOD and the Five S's * Covering daily improvements within the work environment- Picking product on the picking line- Moving totes full of product from one point to another- Stocking replenishment product to the picking shelves- Staging replenishment product as it comes down from full case department- Oprerating a Gladiator handheld scanner (through the AS400)- Working the computers using the AS400 system for multiple inventory and warehouse tasks * Detailed inventory * Product searching * Returns * Tote audits * Product short filling- Pallet infraction reporting within our receiving department (checking for bad pallets)

Multiple Locations

I perform multiple hands on cleaning tasks in whichever designated clean site I'm assigned to. So far I've been designated to a high school, a health clinic and a credit union. The job requires focus and routine with the ability to effectively be consistent in the job. Detail is important.

Copy and Print:Taking care of copy jobs that varied from quick prints to larger even more complex print jobs (anywhere from a few copies up to thousands of copies in quantity) with various diefferent client types. We got customers of all sorts from people doing at home work all the way up to executive level clients. Some jobs required detailed finishing works such as stapling, binding, laminating etc. Work skills required customer service personality, eye for design, experience with cash register, multitasking as well as knowledge of multiple printing and finishing machines.Examples of machinery used:- Color and black and white Xerox printers- Design jet printer/poser printer- Engineer Printer- Small and large laminators- Spiral/comb binding machinery- Heated binding machine- Cutting boardsOffice Supplies:Job required ability to be on the move between register work up front to stocking and shelving work all over the store. Job responsibilities were stocking, facing, cashiering, customer interaction, internet ordering, pull list inventory, crushing product boxes and cleaning. Had further experience with using a baler/box crusher, both filling and emptying.

You could call this my first internship, but it was more like a volunteership since I only contributed what time I could spare and it wasn't paid work. I would put a little more experience into the video recording and editing field of work by going out on video shoots and even coming back to the studio at times to edit the footage and help make it into videos that would air on local access TV. I used a variation of studio cameras along with provided tripods and audio tools for miking and recording.

I was mostly either working up front as a cashier or in the aisles stocking and facing things to be more presentable. Other duties required of us were bringing in carts from outside, assisting customers, bagging groceries, crushing boxes in the warehouse baler and cleaning.
