While landscaping at the headquarters of The Register Guard, I was responsible for general maintenance of the outdoors, all at my own discretion. During this time I used medium-size to heavy machinery which included a leaf-blower, an edger, and a commercial-size riding lawnmower. In Distribution I worked together with a medium-size crew in an assembly-line formation to prepare packages of newspapers to be shipped. Distribution was a very tight-scheduled graveyard shift that often included vigorous and precise work with the hands for hours at a time.

At Vector Marketing, I was responsible for organizing and setting up sales meetings with potential clients. During these meetings, I would perform demonstrations of Cutco brand Cutlery to the clients. I had to learn as much as possible about the parts sold, and to avoid using any scripts while in meetings. It was my responsibility to call clients daily to set up meetings as well as drive to the meeting place (usually the home of the clients). I also had weekly meetings at the Vector Marketing headquarters and was acknowledged as the top weekly seller for two consecutive weeks.

At Winco Foods, I worked in four different departments over the course of just over two years. With every change in department, it gave me more knowledge of the business and made me a very versatile employee.As a Courtesy Clerk I ran a cart-pushing machine to collect shopping carts from the parking lot, cleaned and maintained the bottle return room, restocked specific frozen and refrigerated food sections, as well as assisting customers with their groceries and cashiers with perishable food returns.As a Cashier, I was responsible for my own cash register while ringing up groceries of customers. During this time I learned how to take payments in many forms. These included cash, debit, checks, food stamps, and WIC. I also greatly developed my skills in customer interactions, which included but was not limited to small talk and answering all forms of questions about the store or food items being bought.As a Grocery Clerk, I moved between being an extra cashier when needed and restocking shelves with high selling volume. The shelves included frozen and refrigerated foods and also non-perishable food items and non-food goods. I also was very briefly trained on operating a forklift.As a crew member of Freight, I worked graveyard shift (11:00 pm to 7:00 am) with a crew of around 25 members to restock most of the food-item goods in the store. I worked in many different areas, all of which included frozen, refrigerated, and non-refrigerated foods. Included as a duty was organizing large pallets of foods into more manageable stacks which could then be hand-trucked down to specific locations on aisles. This required extensive knowledge of the exact locations of the many varieties of foods sold. Also done here was restocking shelves, which included rotating goods, lining up the product to be flush with the shelf, and leaving as little open space as possible. All of this had to be done at a grueling, often sweat-inducing pace, and shifts often ran overtime.
