Monitor digital archive operations for the purposes of guaranteeing uninterrupted retrieval and ingest of digital content.Provide weekly metrics to Digital Lab Supervisor regarding status of existing projects, analyze quality metrics, forecast potential throughput obstacles and provide solutions to accommodate growth and expansion of digital pipeline to meet current and future production targets.Manage digital media library and recommend best practices for migration of digital assets. Recommend best practices for digitization, transcoding, frame rate standards conversion and migration of digital assets from a production environment to long-term archival storage. As the Motion Picture Digitization Plan Project Manager solicited collaboration across divisional stakeholders the selection of appropriate mezzanine and preservation digital derivatives. Facilitate the project scope, prioritized goals, and defined deliverables. Submit scheduled reports outlining project progress, problems and solutions. Provide direction and support to team members and communicated project objectives to NARA participants. Instrumental in establishing the NARA digital preservation capture and restoration parameters and composing film digitization standard operating procedures for the Motion Picture Division.Scan motion picture films for preservation on 4K datacine. Supervise staff training on preservation film scanning fundamentals and objectives.As a colorist, grade and color correct 2K/4K film scans for HD broadcast and digital cinema deliverables. Evaluate theatrical exhibition digital cinema packages for image and sound accuracy.Inspect, repair, and sync 35mm and 16mm film elements using standard film inspection equipment including cement and tape splicers, synchronizers, rewinds and Steenbecks.Compare and appraise the image quality of color and B&W elements necessary to achieve appropriate information retention during analog duplication and/or digitization. Perform motion picture laboratory services using traditional film laboratory quality control targets and measurements. Conduct scene-to-scene timing/grading on color analyzer, operate BHP panel contact printer and film processor. Make timing adjustments as needed to correct for any gamma inconsistencies and color imbalances that may be evident in trial answer prints.
