The Director is responsible for the daily supervision of the budget, staffing, leadership training and development for Residential Life/Student Housing. As an on-campus resident, he/she must maintain availability and accessibility to residents, staff, and his/her supervisor, and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and concerns of the students.•Provide physical facilities that are conducive to the kind of atmosphere which encourages positive relationships among student residents, good conditions for study and adequate provision for the assistance of good health and personal security.•Assist in the selection, training and supervision of all Residential Life staff.•Assist in the coordination of the judicial process, education and social programming for all Residence halls.•Assist the Vice President for Student Affairs in planning and conducting extracurricular programs and activities to promote the total development of the enrolled students.•Coordinate the development and implementation of the room assignment/contract process.•Assist the area coordinators, residence directors, and residence monitors in the maintenance of an organizational structure that includes student input and participation in residence hall programs and activities.•Counsel and advise students on a regular basis, when needed.•Investigate and make recommendations to the Vice President for Student Affairs concerning incidents of student misconduct in the residence halls including the completion of disciplinary action forms when appropriate.•Apprise the Vice President and Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs of existing or potential conditions and/or activities that are not in the best interest of the University community.•Work with the residence hall staff to organize and maintain an active Residence Hall Council in the residence halls.•Coordinate the preparation of monthly and annual reports for the Department.

Provide “live-in” supervision of residence hall facility, staff, and resident students; Maintain a safe and secure living environment for resident students; Strictly monitor the hallways and exit doors of assigned residence halls; Encourage, support and contribute to development programs within the residence halls; Maintain availability and accessibility to residents and supervisors; Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and concerns of the students; Perform administrative duties.•Maintain accessibility to staff and supervisor on a 24-hour basis, while providing live-in supervision of the residence hall facilities and residential students.•Assist in the recruitment, selection and supervision of residence hall and paraprofessional staff.•Coordinate training, conduct performance evaluation and staff meetings (to include quality of service and student development) and also maintain a staff duty roster.•Coordinate Academic Support Programs and development of First Year Residential Program.•Assist the Director of Residential Life in developing publications, handbooks, training manuals and resource files.•Serve as the developmental ombudsman in addressing student, parent, faculty, and staff concerns relating to roommate, lifestyle, hall staffing or policy issues.•Develop assessment and feedback mechanisms designed to assess student interest delivery of services and programs, quality of life, as well as, student satisfaction with their on-campus experience.•Assist in the development and implementation of the department’s long range strategic plan.•Conduct building surveys to assist supervisor in planning maintenance projects.•Report any mechanical, structural, electrical or furnishings condition in need of repair or replacement.•Recommend which equipment, tools, and supplies to buy from what sources based on performance and cost.

This log is to be completed before leaving shift.•Maintain records of services requested and performed, and conduct comprehensive inspections to check the completion of work assignments.•Maintain records and submit written and oral reports concerning personnel, equipment, supplies, and expenses; and based on instructions from the Director of Residential Life/Housing.
