I believe that a design team is like an orchestra. We are not a collection of specialists following the orders of an individual, but union of artists who must simultaneously watch the conductor's movements, listen to the notes they are playing and listen to the sounds that envelop them. Even the conductor does not have absolute control of the group but offers a guiding hand. Even a single musician who plays out of tune can sour the work. I am a structural engineer who believes in holistic design.I wish to apply this view to building projects which serve the following goals:- Improving the resiliency and livability of our cities- Reducing the environmental footprint of our structures- Instilling a culture of design that is thoughtful.
