Department of Arts and Humanities, Program in Social Studies• Coded data from focus group interviews, pictures, mapping exercises, and other qualitative sources for use in analyses of various research papers for a faculty member, including projects on the experiences of African immigrant youth in New York City and high school student conceptualizations of school space.• Transcribed interviews for scripts used in coding of various research projects, including the experiences of African immigrant youth in New York City and the experiences of Nepali individuals working with Taiwanese youth on a Habitat for Humanity project in Nepal.• Conducted literature reviews to annotate research on use of Photovoice in participatory research and on conceptualizations of school space resulting in annotated bibliographies for faculty use.• Developed a list of teaching materials on Africa for K-12 teachers in the New York City area. • Created a PowerPoint presentation on sex-segregated school programs in the U.S. from a faculty member’s journal article for presentation by the faculty member at a conference.

• Lesson planned for and team-taught English classes with local English teachers for 100 students per semester at the Arkhangai Teachers College (Mongolian State University of Education (MSUE)).• Trained 13 college English teachers in English skills, current teaching methodologies, and general academic skills through weekly individual meetings and bi-weekly workshops.• Co-developed and implemented the first-ever New Student Orientation Program (August 2012) for over 200 new students at the Teachers College with a committee of teachers.• Ran student English clubs and movie nights designed to help students improve their English skills.• Researched and co-authored a 176-page American studies textbook for an American studies class.• Co-planned and ran three trainings for over 30 provincial secondary school English teachers in coordination with the local ministry officials, local teachers, and other Peace Corps Volunteers. • Worked as a technical trainer for new Peace Corps volunteer trainees July and August 2012. o Co-facilitated training sessions for 45 Peace Corps TEFL volunteer trainees with Mongolian English teacher counterparts on methods for teaching English as a second language, the Mongolian education system, and life as a volunteer in Mongolia.o Developed session outlines and relevant materials for all training sessions with Mongolian counterparts and other Peace Corps Volunteer trainers.o Observed practice teaching sessions and gave feedback to trainees.
