As an APC Doctor for RICS London, my role is to advise candidates on training, experience and templates, including critical analysis/case study and final assessment interview; brief and update the regional training advisor, particularly drawing attention to difficulties and concernsan to encourage candidates to read the APC guides so that they are familiar with the requirements and administration of the APC

I joined Cast at their inception and was an Associate Director responsible for the delivery of a number of high quality residential schemes, delivering 1,000's of units into the London Market. In my time at Cast I also lead a team and had responsibility within the operational side of the business and for developing our staff through the APC process. Whilst at Cast, I also had a focus on schemes with elements of MMC, exploring the use of CLT panelised construction, and volumetric modular construction, to help clients deliver projects which may have been facing viability challenges in a shorter timeframe or more efficient method, making them a viable prospect. I was also involved in the implementation of strategic procurement on a large scale residential project, where major elements such as kitchen, bathrooms, and even facades were procured in advance on a large scale to improve the supply chain efficiency and buying power and ultimately add to the client's bottom line for the scheme.

In 2012 I re-Joined EC Harris (latterly Arcadis) in central London, where I joined the private residential team, and became a team leader with a team delivering some of the largest residential schemes in the capital. My London residential experience includes working for clients including Native Land, Delancey, Qatari Diar, and Capco, to drive value through optimisation of design, innovative benchmarking and should cost modelling, as well as securing best value through robust management of second stage package procurement and post-contract delivery.

After leaving EC Harris at the end of 2009, I worked for a private practice based in Worthing,West Sussex. Here I gained experience of a broad range of projects including a new build Academy (£26m), a new build steel production facility (£10m), high quality private residences featuring a mixture of new build and refurbishment elements and listed buildings (£4m and £3m), and the refurbishment and extension of a primary school (£4m).

I joined EC Harris LLP in 2004, working in the commercial property sector delivering office,hotel, residential, infrastructure and mixed use projects. Whilst at ECH I gained a lot of experience withcommercial developments and managed extensive value engineering and managementprogrammes to enable projects to be viable for my Clients.Whilst at ECH I also instigated an informal APC training programme that saw a 100% first time pass rate.As a senior member of the team, I was involved in the management of the team's resources and service delivery, and was also actively involved in the Delivering Excellenceprogramme.

During my time at AYH i worked in the Retail & Leisure team working predominantly for Mitchells and Butlerson pubs and restaurants such as Vintage Inns, Browns and Harvester as well as budget hotels. The projects ranged in size from £70k refurbishments to £1.5m new build schemes. I was responsible for the financial performanceof projects reporting directly to the client and feeding into their internal financial reporting systems.Duties included attending project briefings with client and design team, cost planning through design development stage of projects, procurement of the works & issue of contract documents, financial management post contract, including preparation of monthly cost reports, issue ofvaluations, agreement of final accounts & the ordering monitoring of client direct orders.

My graduate role for AMEC was in the Cost Planning department working on Design and Build Contracts; Projects included a PPP bid for refurbishment and 30year maintenance of London Underground, a series of £5m new-build rural hospital facilities for Chiltern Health Trust. A Mixed-use scheme in Birmingham combining a new coach station, office, hotel and apartments and also the refurbishment of Victoria House, Bloomsbury, a £45m GMP development to convert listed building into modern office development.
