As a student staff member of the Ecosystem Science & Sustainability Department, I am primarily responsible for creating weekly newsletters for students relating to job opportunities, professional development, campus events, and academic information. I also developed an advising web-based resource for students on Canvas with numerous modules covering information from curriculum to student organizations to campus health resources. I meet with students interested in declaring majors in the department to ensure it is the best fit by discussing the program in depth and helping them understand next steps. I assisted with summer new student orientations by meeting with incoming students and assisting registration processes. I also take on additional tasks as needed, such as webpage updates using WordPress, updating key academic documents, and data analysis.

Within this role, I help the President's Sustainability Commission through a variety of projects, roles, and regular tasks. I assist with administrative work through taking meeting minutes, sending emails to the committee, event planning, and web updates for CSU's central sustainability website using WordPress. I contributed to CSU's Platinum-level 2023 STARS report through data collection & summarization, outreach, and content writing. Another key component of the role is assisting with the annual Greenhouse Gas Inventory by connecting with extension campuses, compiling agriculture inputs, and updating emissions factors. Communication is a significant portion of the role, through writing news articles about PSC initiatives or creating summary documents for sustainability related reports. Additional tasks are taken on as needed, such as updating campus sustainability layers for interactive maps, connecting with peer institutions to learn more about possible sustainability initiatives, and researching trends in higher education sustainability among many others.
