I obtained a PhD in physics from Duke University and then went to work at Los Alamos National Lab in New Mexico. During my time at Los Alamos I developed new methods to calculate the formation of sonic booms in hot nuclear systems using both formal and computational methods. I developed software tools and became skilled in programming languages such as C++ and Fortran. While at Los Alamos I published on multiple topics related to hot and dense nuclear systems and gave many presentations.What I loved about working in academic physics research was the challenge of solving difficult problems and then presenting my solutions in a way that people could appreciate. In fact, I think this ability to synthesize difficult material into a simple package is one of the most important skills I gained from my research experience.My background combining physics and computational programming has provided me with a skill set which I am now leveraging at Electro Magnetic Applications (EMA) in the Denver, Colorado area. At EMA, we provide software and consulting services for premiere Aerospace organizations in the Electromagnetic Environment Effects (E3) design and certification process.
