Within my youth worker role, I support young people up to the age of 30, in their journey being apart of the LGBTQ+ community. I am apart of a team who provide residentials, 1 to 1 support, events, family supports and more. I line manage and lead a team of youth work assistants and volunteers to host youth groups every week, as well as varying events. Behind the scene responsibilities involve administrative duties, using a number of platforms to enable the runnings of my youth work and ensure correct safeguarding. I have managed sports funding in implementing activities to get LGBTQ+ youth more active. This funding gave me the opportunity to protect young people and provide them with a space to try new sports and activities they never would have the confidence to try in the real world. Overall, within this role, I put young people first, supporting their mental, emotional and physical well being.

Responsibilities include working within a sporting department to coordinate, develop and facilitate an all-round sporting programme and fixture list, at a well-recognised private boarding school. Providing opportunity to those who are natural athlete students, as well as increasing participation of students who need a push for physical activity and sport. My implementation of girl’s football at the school, has seen great success so far. The college is now seeing an impressive increase in female participation of the sport.Specialised coaching in football and tennis. Working with teachers in the delivery of core PE. supporting pupils within the classroom and within the boarding houses. Not just with their educational and professional development, but supporting their emotional well-being.

During the summer of 2018 and 2019, working and living at an American summer camp for 3 months at a time, as an assistant coach and cabin counsellor. The role required me to work closely with girl campers aged 8-17, their guardian in all aspects on and off the field. My time at camp has provided me with sound communication and accountability skills working with a team of 27 different nationalities. This environment shaped my understanding to the importance of empowerment and transparency as a leader, working 24 hours of the day, respectably with my counterparts. Going into my third, a promotion of head coach role was offered, with a momentous amount of responsibility. The role requires leading a team of experienced coaches, overseeing the soccer programme throughout the summer in order to create and implement initiatives. Other responsibilities includes being culpable for the camper’s safety and enjoyment, during 1 to 1 face 6am sessions, group training, as well as other activities off the field.
