District Resource Teacher - Technology Trainer
Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area
In 2007 I left my AP Physics classroom after a 21 year career in teaching to pursue my interest in technology. position as DRT at Professional Development in Technology Training I often work together with the staff to identify and analyze critical training needs throughout the district. Under the guidance of my supervisor, John Ellison, and with the area technology trainers we then develop and implement training on a wide variety of applications. It is often my role to assure that the strengths of our team members are utilized to their full potential by involving them in projects that best suit their skill set and experiences. One of the most exciting things most recently is our involvement in the emerging online environment of professional development using Moodle. Again under the guidance of my supervisor, John Ellison, we are all becoming highly trained in the development and facilitation of online courses. I manage the approval and assignment of site based faculty study requests through an online request form and a system of conferences in First Class that I developed with the assistance of my colleagues in Web Communications. I have also worked with several district curriculum supervisors to identify, develop and deliver specific training opportunities to the teachers in their programs including middle and secondary reading teachers and coaches, world language, secondary science and middle school STEM teachers, media specialists and district technology specialists. I also support many district initiatives that require our training facility and/or our technology support including transportation, administration, FTE certification, Lawson and LTM. I have worked with district personnel from several divisions including PD, IS, CSS, CTE, CTechEd and many district partners including Microsoft, Intel, UDT, HP, SMART. Promethean, Mimio, ELMO and others in the planning and development of several district wide implementations.
