I am a planner by education, an urbanist by heart and a placemaker and storyteller by career. I have worked for the City of Woodstock, Georgia in two positions since 2006. Currently as the Director of the Office of Economic Development and previously as the City Planner. In my roles, I have been responsible for promoting and integrating sustainable development practices in redevelopment and infill situations in this rapidly growing jurisdiction. My work experience includes promotion of downtown, design and development of site plans, guiding policy and projects that are beneficial to the community and working with community leaders to continue to make Woodstock a great place.

This project was recently awarded with a creative expression award by the State CVB organization.Works with firms of all sizes and abilities to locate and entitle property for development based on goals set by upper management and elected officials.Works closely with County Economic Development Office to help site professional office and/or industrial based companies.Assists City planning staff with recommendations for zoning and developments while keeping focus on the City’s desire to maintain a mixed-use walkable atmosphere.Assists downtown business owners with promotions, events, parking management and other general retail and residential management issues. Develops solutions to issues raised by business owners and residents and recommends projects for investment by DDA/CVB and Main Street Boards of Directors.Manages an approximately $600,000 annual budget with approval by two separate boards.Manages complex public projects including trail development, parking lot and streetscape projects from design to implementation. Led a $5 million trail system development in three phases from concept to acquisition to construction.Led branding campaign for all downtown organizations that the Office of Economic Development supports to create a unified brand.Supervises a staff of of four full time employees and four part time employees.

Project Manager for the City’s Livable Center Initiative update studying market trends and development potential within the downtown core area.Supported and participated in a 4 day public charette process with consultants from Placemakers to develop a form based code for a greenfield development site directly adjacent to the downtown district Successfully wrote and managed a $200,000 energy efficiency block grant, a $80,000 LCI supplemental study grant and a $5,000,000 request to the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners for trail funding out of the 2008 Parks Bond. Managed a working relationship with SORBA and the USCOE to develop mountain bike trails at Rope Mill Park, which attracts over 15,000+ visitors per year.Spearheaded the development of a sustainability division to address all facets of sustainable practice for the city, businesses, builders, developers and residents. Developed an incentive program which provided builders with discounted building fees for utilizing sustainable building rating systems. Installed the first municipally owned electric vehicle charging station in the State of Georgia and supervised the sustainability coordinator position which included one part time employee.Managed $850,000+/- budget for Community Development Division. Assisted in creation of budget for Building Division.Developed the annual Community Improvement Update and Impact Fee Report for submission to the Department of Community Affairs.Developed concept plan for new arts village/downtown greenspace as collaborative effort between Elm Street Cultural Arts group and the City.Assisted in the creation of the City’s Community Development department. Supervised the zoning administration and business licensing functions, which includes 2 full time employees.Board Member during the creation of Main Street Woodstock, Inc. Attended the Georgia Main Street Conference to enhance and promote the benefits of being a Main Street City.
