I am passionate about creating and teaching. Over the course of my career I've been fortunate to focus on helping making developers productive as first a developer working on core developer tools and then by being a developer advocate and program manager focusing on making tools like Visual Studio Code and Azure the tools that developers choose to use to create amazing tools and experiences. I thoroughly enjoy talking to customers, community members, and colleagues about what can help them write effective, secure, accessible, and performant code at a rapid pace.Beyond my joy of working on developer productivity tools, I enjoy teaching and speaking. I've spoken at dozens on conferences on six continents (still waiting on my Penguin Conf Antarctica invite!) in over forty countries (see the YouTube playlist listed on my LinkedIn to see a sampling). I've also gotten to teach workshops both in person and recorded online that have been viewed for decades of human-hours, most notably on Frontend Masters. When not teaching or working, you can find me in Seattle, WA with my wife and dog. I enjoy traveling, working out on Peloton, playing online games poorly, and enjoying an Islay Scotch or a Seattle brewery's IPA.
