About Benjamin Speake, Phd
Computational Chemist / Research Software Engineer at the UKRI - Science and Technology Facilities Council developing software for classical molecular modelling. Contributor to the DL_POLY, QUEST and Quest View scientific software packages.I achieved a PhD in computational and theoretical chemistry from the University of Nottingham under Prof Andrew Teale, where I developed new methods for studying large molecular clusters/crystals exposed to external electric/magnetic fields. During my time at the University of Nottingham I contributed to the development of the QUEST electronic structure package and created the Quest View molecular visualiser specialising in the analysis of the response of molecular systems to a magnetic field. Throughout my work I have developed software in Python, C++ and Fortran and utilised a variety of APIs such as MPI, Qt and OpenGL.
