I started out as a Nursery Assistant helping young children to learn and grow; a positive start to their education in a safe and warm environment where they could express themselves and their emotions. Being a childβs first βteacherβ was a privilege, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to impact their lives in any small way. A slight career change took me behind the scenes of a Primary School, assisting the busy teaching staff in the tasks that they didnβt get time to do themselves. I unleashed my creative energy on the display boards across the school, assisted with the school productions, accompanied children on school trips and provided administrative support to staff who needed it. I caught the βfundraising bugβ when the school needed money for a sports pitch to be built on the grounds. Event planning, advertising, sourcing raffle prizes and creating marketing materials gave me a buzz and excitement at work that I hadnβt had before. This led to me moving on to another primary school, with a job that focused on parent communication, the school website and social media. The lack of PTA and the schools need for a new mini bus, gave me the opportunity to use my passion for fundraising again, organising school fairs, colouring competitions, raffles and other fun activities. My role developed further, and I became responsible for attendance, admissions, the schoolβs single central record and processing staff DBS applications. After leaving work in education, I became an Administrative Assistant at The KM Charity Team, working closely with the education and events teams to deliver our literacy and green school initiatives, competitions and events as well as helping with the charity's online presence. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, the charity closed and the team were made redundant. After a brief spell at an Insurance company, I decided to begin a degree in Marketing. Something which I have always enjoyed and had a role in while working in education and with the charity. In my spare time I have organised two fun days, both raising money for childrenβs cancer charities. I thoroughly enjoyed the planning and execution of these events, particularly seeing how much fun children and adults were having at something I had organised. I now own my own business; Build the Buzz - Social Media and Branding. I offer social media management services, content creation and strategies for businesses who need help or just don't have the time to build their online presence. I am also a Mum to two boys, lover of movies, music and good food!
