People often ask me why I'm running for office. I've been an avid follower of politics for 35 years, and I've done my share of complaining about the system. When Jerry Madden decided to retire after 20 years of service to District 67, I felt called to "put up or shut up." It's time to give back. During my 29-year career as a businessman, entrepreneur and engineer, when I've been asked to solve a big problem, I stepped up.My goal is to instill a business-minded corporate culture throughout Texas government, including lean-and-mean budgeting, common-sense employment practices, and eliminating red tape, silly rules & pointless regulations that put a drag on our Texas economy, without waiting 2 years for the next session in order to do the right thing. Our government agencies need to be as nimble as any member of Texas's competitive business community.Here's what I'm passionate about:--Balancing the budget and enabling state agencies to function with fiscal responsibility between legislative sessions.--Reforming education finance. Clearly, the "Robin Hood" redistribution of wealth approach hasn't worked. After years under this plan, student test scores are leveling off across the state, in both rich and poor districts.--Improving our Texas infrastructure, especially our crumbling highway system and insufficient water supplies. My engineering background enables me to understand and implement real solutions to these issues reaching crisis levels across the state.--Tackling immigration reform. I'm willing to listen to and act upon any practical range of solutions that stem the tide of illegal immigration which is placing a heavy burden on Texas taxpayers.I'm here to be your voice for District 67, representing citizens of Allen, Richardson, and Plano.
