As a research assistant at Georgia Tech, I explored the use of sparse coding as an unsupervised feature extractor for machine learning tasks. As part of that research, I created a modified sparse coding algorithm to classify anomalous behavior in a dataset. In particular, I developed algorithms to detect cardiac disease in humans and respiratory disease in chickens. I published the results of my research in two journal articles and four conference papers.

Metz, France

At Georgia Tech--Lorraine, I taught eight undergraduate courses over two semesters as primary instructor. I coordinated with the Atlanta-based faculty to develop homework and lab assignments and write tests and quizzes. I also managed the electrical engineering lab equipment and supply inventory.

Boise, Idaho

During my extended internship, I worked on a 12-person team to develop multi-core printer and mobile device chips. On the team, I led the efforts in designing and verifying the interrupt controller unit in Verilog.

Provo, Utah

At BYU, my research focused on improving an all-dielectric electromagnetic field sensor. I was able to help improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the sensor using electrical and optical components as well as signal processing techniques. I published my research in three journal articles. In addition, I worked closely with faculty members to design a 'Junior Core' project that was subsequently incorporated into the department's curriculum.
