I started working in the Consumer Health Care (OTC) business in 1979 here in Aiken S C for Beecham Products. We made a various amount of over the counter drugs from manufacturing and packaging of the products. I started out as a packaging operator in October 22 1979 in the Sucrets department it was amazing. After a couple of years I was asked to join the Manufacturing part of the process I would continue to learn and grow on how to manufacture a list of OTC products. I also was part of the 1st Maintenance apprentice program in the Solid Dosage area, this was disassembling equipment, presses, blenders, mills, setting them back to the parameters needed per batch record.During my role as a manufacturing associate I was able to become a Lead operator (SME) and them a Team Coordinator working with the Team needs, training, scheduling, Manpower, production needs, inventory, warehouse. I was on the First Aid Response program, Safety Team, Employee Involvement team, Hazardous response team, Confine space entry and rescue team. I also got my certification license to operate a stand up/seated fork lift. In April of 2018 the Aiken site was purchase to continue making products for our previous employer. In January of this year 2019 the plant had a RIF (layoff) where 35 associates were laid off due to economic reasons, I was caught up in this after 39 years of service.
