As Assistant City Editor Digital, I'm tasked with nurturing and promoting a digital-first approach in all aspects of our daily news gathering and newsroom operation. I work with reporters to develop or supplement stories for a digital audience, while also coordinating breaking news and digital projects with various departments.

As a digital reporter on the Van Live news team, I wrote breaking news and online stories by publishing web hits and ongoing files for the Vancouver Sun and Province brands. I also wrote video scripts and managed digital elements for stories, while continually testing new tools and ways of storytelling.

As a night reporter, I developed late-breaking stories and covered a range of news including politics, crime, and human interest features. On weekends, I managed a weekend team of three reporters to coordinate The Province’s Sunday edition. I occasionally stepped in to assist on the weekday assignment desk, managing up to a dozen reporters and photographers to coordinate the news of the day.

In June 2011, I also reported on scene from the Stanley Cup riot in downtown Vancouver. Projects I spearheaded for 24 Hours included a 10th anniversary 9/11 retrospective, an exclusive look inside a police investigation feature, and back-to-school student achievement profiles.

I covered local student and community issues, wrote features relating to the Langara College student population, and also worked on page design and layout, copy editing and news blog maintenance.

I covered local news, education, arts & entertainment, and human interest, and helped develop and launch the award-winning youth newspaper RView. As RView's editor, I coordinated youth editorial meetings, oversaw story assignment and development, while also tasked with copy editing, page layout and design.
