I have over 25 years of experience in early-phase drug discovery and small-molecule tool development for Ion Channels, Transporters, and 7TM Receptors. I have extensive experience in the design and development of instrumentation, software, and fluorescent indicators. I have a successful track record of building new capabilities and leading teams including ion channel lead discovery and hits-to-leads at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology High-throughput Screening Facility, Molecular Pharmacology for the Vanderbilt Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery, Director of the National Institutes of Health MLPCN Center for GPCRs, Ion Channels and Transporters, WaveFront Biosciences, ION Biosciences, and now at Biohaven Pharmaceuticals. I am the inventor of the Thallium Flux Assay and Thallos thallium-sensitive fluorescent dye - this technique and reagent are used worldwide for drug discovery and basic research to advance our understanding of potassium, sodium, monovalent cation channels, ion transporters, and GPCRs.
