Director Of Communications
Bloomington, Indiana
This role was very fast-paced and far-reaching. It required patience, tact, imagination, and perseverance. It was equal parts strategy, planning, and execution. As the only communications person assigned to this entity, it also required a great deal of collaboration with global communication leadership, creatives, and content teams. Highlights include:• Identifying communication needs and creating solutions. In 2019, worked with internal IT team to launch CIRCLE – a first for Cook – a two-way intranet portal for manufacturing employees without email. CIRCLE is the most visited site on our global intranet and has revolutionized engagement with production employees at Cook. This multi-media solution used existing manufacturing information terminals, so total one-time investment was under $100,000.00. Additional instances of the portal are being installed at other Cook plants.• Serving as one of a six-member on-site COVID-19 response team formed to ensure compliance with Cook global guidance and federal, state, and local requirements for essential businesses, while encouraging the work force to “keep calm and carry on”. The dynamic nature of the pandemic required massive communication support with often multiple communications daily across a variety of channels to reach various audiences. The team’s response was a success: As of March 2021, a total of only TWO suspected onsite transmissions had been reported since the start of the pandemic out of a workforce of ~4,000 individuals. During the pandemic, Cook Inc. kept entire workforce employed despite significantly lower. In a two-month time period, new internal communications processes had been put in place to support ~700 employees moved to remote work.• Driving Cook Inc. business plan development process to create alignment to guidance from parent company Cook Medical.• As an internal change consultant, working with multiple departments.
