During my internship, I worked in a small team of four interns. We worked on a research project into macroeconomic trends that would affect the Trade Finance Unit, and mainly looked at the E&E, Chemicals, Rubber, Plastics and Oil sectors. I interned with Wong Chen, the Member of Parliament for Subang during the historic time of GE14, Malaysia's 14th General Election. It was the year where the opposition party (where I interned) booted out the incumbent government who has been ruling for 61 years. I was in the organizational team that won the P104 Subang Jaya parliamentary seat under Wong Chen. We handled the logistics of PACA (Polling Agent Counting Agent) for multiple constituencies, ran social media campaigns to connect with voters while consistently supporting our constituents through community work. As a good writer, I was also tasked with editing and writing the campaign materials. Later on, Wong Chen hired me to be his personal scriptwriter for his upcoming book, where he taught me the topics of public policy and we shared ideas on governance and democracy. Some of my key highlights includes:• Collaborated with an eight-man team that won the Subang Jaya parliamentary seat for Malaysia’s 14th General Election by the third-largest majority of 92,353 votes.• Identified key districts by racial and income profiles then formulated a winning campaign strategy together with the team. • Analysed road traffic volume and patterns using Google Maps to determine strategic locations to place campaign banners.• Creative marketing skills capitalising on current trends, garnering 1000 Instagram followers within the first week of creation.

Interning as a Financial Writer have sharpened my communication skills and writing ability, teaching me to deliver both written and oral points concisely. Part of my daily workload includes covering business events & press conferences for the daily, organizing data, conducting interviews and writing articles. In addition, I worked with the Election team for GE14 looking into youth policies and its effectiveness. I also ran a feature article on the growth of homeschooling centres in Malaysia, evaluating its impact on the education sector. Specifically, an analysis of the Central Bank’s annual report and the rise of illegal learning centres.• Acquired basic skills using the Bloomberg Terminal to find historical data on firms, for instance, when writing a feature article on the volume and effectiveness of share buybacks.• Analysed the daily price fluctuations of shares in publicly listed companies and compiled business reports for investors. • Proactive and persistent in the follow up to secure exclusive interviews with business analysts and politicians, such as Nik Nazmi, the youth head of the largest opposition party, or Kevin Gan, the founder of multiple education centres.
