My first real job was with Lake Retreat Camp and Conference Center near Kent, WA. I started as a groundskeeper but transitioned into multiple roles there. The only real equivalent title I could say that would fit what I did is general handyman. I did groundskeeping, housekeeping, dish washing, group hosting, facilities maintenance, activities supervisor, etc. However it was a seasonal position and eventually time was up and I was laid off.Next came Sam's Club. I was there for 5 years before they shut down the Seattle Store. the entire time I was classified as a Tire Technician. However, just like with Lake Retreat, I turned into a handyman for the company. I would do my job of Tire services, battery replacements and other assorted things for the customers. But I would also put together display items, shelving, furniture, small sheds and pergolas, etc. By my third year my department no long had a team leader and by seniority I became default Senior Tech. I was in charge of training new personnel, auditing stock, managing special orders and claims, organizing paperwork, etc.After Sam's Club closed. I took time to finish my AA in General Studies. I took on odd jobs during this time, remodel construction, fire watch, and trespassing security.Fall 2018 I got a job as a product assembler/machinist for Western Pacific Building Materials. It was pretty straight forward as manufacturing goes. But it didn't last long. I was laid off due to the construction season slowing down and having excess personnel.Five hours after being laid off from WestPac, I was offered a job with Discount Tire. I had the previous experience that the store manager was looking for to pilot a new position within the company. I became the first Service Manager at Discount Tire. Unfortunately, the position was somewhat ill conceived. It was entirely unneeded because it overlapped the territory of the position above me and the position below me. Regardless, I wasn't the man for the job and I found a position with Lime.At Lime, I started off as a Operations Specialist with Lime's car share pilot program in Seattle. The entire job was tracking the cars, retrieving the cars, and then moving them to positions in the city where they would be used. Over my 6 months as a Operations Specialist I learned how to drive all over the city.Eventually, I transfered to the Operations Mechanic position. I would fix the damaged cars, replace windows, clean them, replace broken cosmetic parts, graffiti removal, and work with third party repair facilities for anything I couldn't handle.
