Monitors and audits company operations to ensure compliance with assigned local, state and federal environmental regulations by performing duties which include:Developing, implementing and maintaining required environmental operating procedures to ensure company and employee awareness, comprehension and adherence to approved environmental quality practice. Performing on-site inspections and conducting surveys, audits and inventories for the Health, Environmental and Safety (HES) Department. Performing employee chemical exposure evaluations, soil evaluations and waste classifications by sampling air, soil, wastewater and hazardous waste. Evaluating bids and controls costs associated with off-site waste treatment, disposal and reclamation, facilities and environmental contractors, consultants, vendors and laboratories. Reviewing new processes and process changes for environmental impact, permitting and applicable regulations; evaluating, recommending and/or selecting new process control equipment and modifications which reduce or minimize pollution and/or environmental/employee exposure.Additional duties in assisting in the planning, coordination and supervision of remediation, installation and construction/demolition projects. Assisting in performing compliance and/or liability audits of off-site transport, storage, disposal and reclaim facilities. Other responsibilities include maintaining company Air Quality and Zero Water Discharge permits (including emission calculations), environmental reporting such as TRI, Tier II Biennial Reports and Pollution Prevention plans, Emergency Response and Contingency Plan and regular correspondence with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

Electric Vehicle Batteries no longer suitable for vehicle use were re-purposed to store energy collected from PV panels atop a building. The batteries would collect power during non-peak usage hours and discharge when energy use was high. This was done by a previously developed algorithms which predicted usage rates to enhance demand charge management (DCM) of building. The goal of this study was to optimize the DCM algorithm to be reliable and consistent at reducing peak demand to be used in commercial applications. By optimizing the load forecasting strategy, the algorithm became more effective in mitigating the effect of days with large errors. The success of the optimized strategy depends on the reduction of peak demand, as well as the rate of battery failure which occurred when too much energy was discharged. Extensive MATLAB coding and energy consumption analysis was required to better enhance the algorithm.
