This research project was focused on tidal inlets, wave-induced, morphodynamic processes. Dissertation Title "Morfodinâmica das Desembocaduras de Icapara e do Rio Ribeira de Iguape, São Paulo". The results indicate that between June 1986 and April 2016, there was a relatively constant lateral migration process on the Icapara inlet, with a resultant NE direction. This process was already expected since the coastal drift currents tend to flow in this direction. On the other hand, the inlet of the Ribeira de Iguape presented a relatively irregular and often abrupt lateral migration process in the opposite direction, towards SW. At the meeting point of these environments, the Leste beach suffered intense erosive processes throughout this period. The wave regime of the region certainly influenced the lateral migration of these environments. However, other variables seems to be important for Ribeira de Iguape inlet stability too, such as the fluvial discharge from the Icapara inlet, which works as a hydraulic barrier for waves and drift currents. This blockage allowed the migration of Ribeira de Iguape inlet in opposite direction. Despite these indicators, more data still needs to be gathered from the region to support this idea.

Study focused on evaluating storm surge impacts on barrier islands. Project Entitled "Analysis of storm impacts on Comprida Island, SP".The results indicated that the northern portion of the Ilha Comprida beach is more susceptible to tidal impacts from storms (intense erosion processes and sediment transport caused by waves, tides and currents) than the central and southern portions. This is due to its lower topography (less than 2 meters) and finer sediments, but overall, all portions of the barrier island are susceptible to these impacts, mainly because of its low topography, the maximum of which is 3.5 meters
