As a GIS Analyst, I worked with several local governments around the suburbs of Chicago using a shared services model to provide data management and mapping support. I sat on site with my clients and worked with a variety of consulting techniques to best understand client priorities and needs. Partnering with a co-site analyst, I worked to manage multiple complex projects at once in different areas. These areas included utility work, planning and community development, engineering, and more. My variety of experience in both work and consulting allowed me to effectively help manage my clients data and find new opportunities to make workflows more efficient.

As a GIS Analyst, I provided mapping support for a team that provided risk assessments to the US Navy and Marine Corps. This was a collaborative team environment that worked directly on site with the client. I worked closely with utility engineers to map out utility systems, including water, sewer, electric, telecommunications, and gas. I then took these maps and worked with other analysts on our team to put them into a report that then went to client leadership.

For my role as a graduate assistant, I was both a teaching assistant and a research assistant. As a teaching assistant, I assisted with the following courses: Introduction to Meteorology, Introduction to GIS, Global Climatology, and Climate Change and Modification. For these classes I held office hours where I assisted students with homework, and I graded labs, homework, and exams. As a research assistant, I assisted professors with their research by gathering articles, carrying out methods, and editing drafts of articles and other various research papers.

Orlando, Florida

As the Weather Producing Intern at News 13 with Bright House Networks, I was responsible for the bulk of social media. I created daily posts on Facebook and Twitter, and was able to assist in creating a weather blog for News 13. I also created daily forecasts when needed, and was able to use the WSI Graphics system to help the meteorologists in getting their various shows together.

As a Specialty Shop Clerk it was my responsibility to maintain the Specialty Shop of the University Bookstore at Virginia Tech. This included assisting customers with purchasing merchandise, keeping merchandise neat and well stocked, and keeping the floor neat and clean. I was responsible for keeping track of inventory at least once a semester, and I was also responsible for changing out seasonal displays.
