Hi there! My name is Caitlin and I am the exhibitions coordinator and curator for the Greater Denton Arts Council in Denton, Texas. =]* My role oversees the planning/organizing, installing/deinstallation, and curation of 3 on-site galleries of the arts center as well as 6 satellite sister-gallery spaces across Denton, namely Denton City Hall, UNT Murchison Performing Arts Center, Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center, Texas Oncology Denton, and Denton Stoke Co-Working. *I communicate and interact with artists for the planning and execution of exhibitions such as organizing calls for art and selection of guest jurors.*I maintain our permanent collection, keep the art center's website up to date, oversee our social media presence, perform marketing, oversee leasing contracts/selling of art, host receptions, and help maintain the center's outdoor and public artworks.BACKGROUNDCaitlin received her MA in Art from Texas Woman's University in 2023 in Art History and Visual Culture and Woman's and Gender Studies. She preformed 2 years graduate assistant work in the university's East|West Galleries where she co-curated exhibitions and maintained the galleries through the installation/deinstallation of shows. She also preformed research of artists, held communications with artists and curators/jurors, created press releases, and assisted with advertising of art exhibitions. In 2022, Caitlin co-curated with TWU art faculty a group show called "for the time being" that featured local DFW women artists. In 2023, she solo-curated her thesis exhibition "The Body as Voice" group show which featured local DFW multicultural women and women of color.Caitlin is an experienced museum attendant from 2018-2022 with a demonstrated history of working in the fine arts industry. Skilled in Nonprofit Organizations, Museum Curation, Gallery Design, Art History, Philosophy, WGS, and Art Education. Strong operations professional with a Masters in Art History and Visual Culture from Texas Women's University and a Bachelor's degree focused in Art History, Curation, and Exhibition Design from University of North Texas, 2020.
